Supreme Court Dam Fund Reaches 549 Million Rupees

Supreme Court of Pakistan stepped forward to establish Diamer Basha And Mohmand Dam Fund while hearing a case of water shortage. This fund account was created on July 6, 2018. Till date August 2, 2018 Five hundred forty-nine million three hundred nine thousand six hundred thirteen rupees have been collected.

People of Pakistan are still pouring their funds in the account. There is still a long way to go, though this amount very small but this will ensure that every person donating have played their role.

Diamer Basha Dam Site is located in Kohistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This Dam will be able to store 8.1 million acre feet (MAF) water. Some sources claim that it can store 9.04 MAF. Its live capacity will be 7.9 MAF. This Dam will be able to produce 4500 MW electricity. Its estimated cost in 2013 was $14 billion. This for sure that its cost has risen in 2018 due to delay.

We need more and more Dams in order to survive. Water level in Pakistan has lowered and everyone is concerned over the critical situation of water. Experts say that by 2025 there will be no water in Pakistan. On the other hand India is constructing Dams continuously, which means less share of water for Pakistan.

Let’s come forward, and donate whatever you can for this cause. You can even donate RS 10 for this cause. We can skip one party for the month and can contribute PKR5000. This would help a lot. Pakistani nation is known for its generosity and we believe that once decided we, the Pakistanis, can do it.
